Happy Fourth of July!

On the Fourth of July we celebrate Independence Day.  In 1776, Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence, which was adopted by the delegates of the 13 colonies. When America declared its independence from Britain in 1776, the Revolutionary War (1776-1783) was still taking place when the first annual celebration was held in Philadelphia in 1777.  There were parades, the firing of canons or musket fire, ringing bells in revelry, public speeches, and bonfires - a time to remind each other of their rights and freedoms. The tradition of fireworks began when a ship fired a 13-gun salute to honor the 13 colonies and the Sons of Liberty set off fireworks over Boston Common.

Celebrate your Fourth of July, but remember to take a moment to honor all those brave patriots who fought for your freedoms and those who lost their lives to provide all the liberties we enjoy! On this anniversary of the Fourth of July, celebrate with joy, a lot of patriotism, and admiration for all those who fought for and continue to fight for our freedoms!
